New Portrait: Yelena

How wonderful it is drawing cheerful people, such as Yelena, despite the fact that a smile is the most difficult thing to depict. )) Earrings with large stones and guipure blouse were also a challenge but still that was great. Although in the portrait those are just details. The main things are the face and, of course, the similarity.))

My New Sketch: Maharaja Elephants in Jaipur, India

I saw the title of the magazine: ''Have rest!''. No sooner said than done. This spontaneous watercolor drawing appeared when I was just sorting out books and magazines in the bookcase )) Besides, I just like things related to India. Here you can see parade of elephants in Jaipur.

At the same time I also tried Pebeo brushes with reservoirs, - a gift of my friend and artist @ lana_oway. This is really very convenient when you don't have to keep a jar of water next to you and rinse your brush, except that you delete the excessive paint with a paper napkin before you take another paint. But in any case, you just make less moves which is ideal for quick sketches))

  

Creative Drawing Book "A Line is a Dot That Went for a Walk" by Jo Fernihough

An artist pondering over a new picture, an autodidact in a creative crisis, a tired clerk/housewife yearning for creativity, or a beginner who does not know where to start - this fascinating notebook is created for everyone. This is "A Line is a Dot That Went for a Walk" by Jo Fernihough.

Just let yourself go, don't think that now you need to create something extraordinary or "at least worthwhile". ;) Take pencils, pens, markers, whatever, and do interesting creative tasks as a whim takes you. In some tasks there are hints like:

• "Scribbles turn into..."
• "Finish elements so that..."
• "Draw faces for these eyebrows"

and in some you are completely left on your own ("Create an ornamental pattern using..."). And you can relax, not giving yourself any estimates and not expecting them from others. :)

A big but light notebook with good white paper will:

• literally endure everything;
• give you some new ideas;
• imperceptibly help you to understand yourself;
• inspire you to further accomplishments.

"Always Believe" Lettering

This piece is yet another art challenge for myself. You see, I tried lettering for the first time in my life. The fonts for this inscription are invented by me, as well as the colourful background. Those are my favourite flowers: orchids, roses, alstroemerias, crocuses...

Why flowers? Sometimes we become hopeless but, just like a flower in spring, our belief can bloom again, right? May your belief be strong! ^_^

In these pics you can see my work in progress and the scanned outcome. I was making this picture step by step for several evenings as a gift, and finished it on April 11.

Materials: watercolour crayons "Cretacolor" (24 colours), crayons "Faber-Castell Goldfaber", sketchbook page.

 

Just a Lemon

Spring is the very time for some new fresh experiments. Juicy and sour as well! I'm a watercolour adherent, but this time I decided to depict a fruit using crayons. This is also my first experiment in "photorealism" (leave aside my portraits of people). ^_^

The first pic is just a photo of my sketchbook and pencils I used for this drawing, taken with my mobile phone. The second one is the scanned version of this piece, and I must say the original is actually this bright. ^_^

The crayons I use are watercolour crayons "Cretacolor", 24 colours.

 

New Quick Sketch. Bharatanatyam Dancer

A new quick sketch (13 min) with Faber-Castell black pen. I would like to make an aquarelle out of this one, will just correct some lines.

 

Really missing my bharatanatyam classes.

Quick Sketches With Faber-Castell Brushpens

Hagi Castle Garden, Western Honshu, Japan

 This time I was mesmerized by blooming cherry-trees of Japan (it's time for them to bloom by the way), so tried 2 sketches from photos.)) Architectural objects... well, still miles to go but I'm happy even with this outcome.
First image took me 15 min, 2nd one took about 25-30 min. ^_^
Going to train myself more. ^_^
