My New Sketch: Maharaja Elephants in Jaipur, India

I saw the title of the magazine: ''Have rest!''. No sooner said than done. This spontaneous watercolor drawing appeared when I was just sorting out books and magazines in the bookcase )) Besides, I just like things related to India. Here you can see parade of elephants in Jaipur.

At the same time I also tried Pebeo brushes with reservoirs, - a gift of my friend and artist @ lana_oway. This is really very convenient when you don't have to keep a jar of water next to you and rinse your brush, except that you delete the excessive paint with a paper napkin before you take another paint. But in any case, you just make less moves which is ideal for quick sketches))

Colour Charts of My Watercolour Sets

After all those years that I’ve been "seriously" painting, I made my aquarelle colour chart. Аfter all, artists normally do so, don’t they? 😄 I have one "professional" box, "Nevskaya Palitra" of 12 colours (1st photo). And the other two are honey watercolour sets, "Luch" of 14 and 24 colours. As I compared them I saw the notorious difference in the quality of pigments.

I remember that happiness, so cool that was having 24 colours (I was very much fond of anime style back then)! And now I think: so cool it is to be able to mix paints so that you get all these and many other amazing colours😍

Sometimes it gets tough without special education. At some stage, you understand that there are more white gaps than painted areas, and what others jump from like from a springboard, is some impassable jungle to you. But I just move at my own pace. Is there anything I don’t know? So, sooner or later I will learn that😊

Creative Drawing Book "A Line is a Dot That Went for a Walk" by Jo Fernihough

An artist pondering over a new picture, an autodidact in a creative crisis, a tired clerk/housewife yearning for creativity, or a beginner who does not know where to start - this fascinating notebook is created for everyone. This is "A Line is a Dot That Went for a Walk" by Jo Fernihough.

Just let yourself go, don't think that now you need to create something extraordinary or "at least worthwhile". ;) Take pencils, pens, markers, whatever, and do interesting creative tasks as a whim takes you. In some tasks there are hints like:
  • "Scribbles turn into..."
  • "Finish elements so that..."
  • "Draw faces for these eyebrows"
and in some you are completely left on your own ("Create an ornamental pattern using..."). And you can relax, not giving yourself any estimates and not expecting them from others. :)

A big but light notebook with good white paper will:

  • literally endure everything;
  • give you some new ideas;
  • imperceptibly help you to understand yourself;
  • inspire you to further accomplishments.

Autumn Leaves, Watercolour

This painting was made on 13th of November and gifted to my mom on her birthday. This is the result of my first webinar on watercolour art (by artist Maryana Bryukhanova (Instagram: @maryana_bryukhanova)). I've got so much of positive emotions, felt more freedom in my hand and got to know some watercolour secrets. ^_^

Portrait of Stasė

My ex. batchmate had her birthday recently, so, as I had some spare time, I decided to draw her portrait. Among my batchmates Stasė was a bright personality - vivid, laughing, loud, talkative, resilient. Also, she was the permanent group leader.)) Stasė is originally Lithuanian, so her long and sonorous surname was eminent among Russian ones - Ramanauskaitė.
I've got some fond memories of Stasė. Although she's moved to Moscow, she's found me on social network.

Mehendi For My Friend

I've been a bit busy these days, disappearing in the garden mostly and doing some housework. On one evening my friend and neighbour asked me for a mehendi. That was, um, almost night but still I fulfilled the wish and applied mehendi on her hand and leg. ^_^

Mehendi Sketch

That's what I do when I just want to practice mehendi a bit. ^_^ I take a big sheet of paper and make an outline of my own hand. Then fill this shape with mehendi design. ^_^

Sangeet Mehendi on My Hand

My mehendi hand. As far as I remember, this is called sangeet design. I actually recreated Indian henna artist Sonika's design (Instagram: @sonikashennaart). She's brilliant and is getting lots of bridal orders. Was very happy to get a repost of this piece and positive feedback from Sonika. ^_^

"Always Believe" Lettering

This piece is yet another art challenge for myself. You see, I tried lettering for the first time in my life. The fonts for this inscription are invented by me, as well as the colourful background. Those are my favourite flowers: orchids, roses, alstroemerias, crocuses...

Why flowers? Sometimes we become hopeless but, just like a flower in spring, our belief can bloom again, right? May your belief be strong! ^_^

In these pics you can see my work in progress and the scanned outcome. I was making this picture step by step for several evenings as a gift, and finished it on April 11.

Materials: watercolour crayons "Cretacolor" (24 colours), crayons "Faber-Castell Goldfaber", sketchbook page.

Just a Lemon

Spring is the very time for some new fresh experiments. Juicy and sour as well! I'm a watercolour adherent, but this time I decided to depict a fruit using crayons. This is also my first experiment in "photorealism" (leave aside my portraits of people). ^_^

The first pic is just a photo of my sketchbook and pencils I used for this drawing, taken with my mobile phone. The second one is the scanned version of this piece, and I must say the original is actually this bright. ^_^

The crayons I use are watercolour crayons "Cretacolor", 24 colours.

Switzerland, Oberhofen, Watercolour Painting

It’s architecture again. I don't really know why I’ve been so much fond of it lately.)) I’ve chosen a thoroughly structured photo in order not to use perspective and other complicated architectural and landsape stuff. Still I’ve totally killed walls and mountains. I even know how. Okay, I’ll improve my skill anyway. ^_^

The outcome is anime-like, I wanted something with pastel shades, but it came out almost as bright as the photo. But I’m satisfied.

The painting is a bit bigger than A5. I spent 4 hours on it.
I like making photos of the process. I should make them more often.))

Being a mother

From FB.

A human body can bear only 45 del (unit) of pain. But at the time of giving birth,a mother feels upto 57 del of pain... This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured, all at the same time.
This is just to tell you the extent to which a mother loves her child!

Pro Hand Made

I've found a very interesting site (http://www.prohandmade.ru/) and in one of their articles they show a "tealamp" made of an ordinary cup)))
A bright idea! ^__^
